Level 1 sweep and inspection to the NFPA 211 annual standard - flue, crown, cap, and flashing checked and photographed
Chimney sweep logs do not sweep chimneys. They loosen some creosote - which then falls where a brush and vacuum still have to collect it.
Meet the Jersey City Team Behind Level Two Chimney Jersey City
We’re a Jersey City crew first. Most of us live within twenty minutes of the shop, which means the chimneys we work on belong to neighbors, not account numbers. Every tech on this page has put in years on rooftops across Hudson County, and every one of them follows the same set of rules: written price before work starts, camera evidence before any recommendation, and a photo record when the job’s done. No exceptions, no shortcuts, and no drama when the camera disagrees with the homeowner’s hunch. That last part matters more than most people realize.
Our People
Marcus T. – Lead Technician
Marcus has been sweeping and inspecting chimneys in Jersey City since 2011, which means he’s seen what decades of neglect look like from the inside of a flue. He holds an NFPA 211 Level 2 camera inspection certification and has documented over 6,000 chimney interiors. Marcus is the tech who’ll tell you what the camera found in plain terms: a hairline crack in the flue liner, a crown with spalling that’s losing its skim coat, or Class III creosote that needs mechanical removal. He’s got two kids and a rebuilt 1987 Camaro that he drives exactly four months out of the year.
Elena R. – Senior Installer
Elena runs our liner and rebuild jobs, and she’s been doing it since 2014. She’s certified on DuraFlex and HeatShield systems, and she’s installed over 400 stainless steel liners across Bergen and Hudson counties. Elena is the one who’ll walk you through what a full rebuild actually involves, from the smoke chamber parging to the crown pour, and she’ll show you photos of every stage before and after. She keeps a notebook of every chimney she’s rebuilt, with notes on mortar mix ratios and cap measurements. On weekends she coaches a youth soccer team in Bayonne.
Deshawn P. – Service Coordinator
Deshawn is the voice on the phone at (862) 272-3868, and he’s been answering calls for Level Two Chimney Jersey City since 2018. His job is scheduling, written estimates, and making sure every customer knows exactly who’s coming, when they’ll arrive, and what they’ll do when they get there. He’s the reason you’ll never hear “call for a quote” from us. Deshawn lived in Greenville before moving to Journal Square, and he can tell you which streets in the Heights have the hardest roof access based entirely on call history. He’s also the only person on the team who can name all six brands we source materials from without checking a sheet.
Priya N. – Apprentice Technician
Priya joined our crew in 2023 and is working through her Level 1 inspection training. She’s out on jobs with Marcus and Elena daily, learning the difference between fine soot accumulation and something that needs real attention. Priya grew up in Jersey City and went to Dickinson High before studying construction technology. She’s the reason our photo documentation has gotten even sharper: she figured out how to angle the camera to capture flue tile offset joints that used to show up blurry. Priya’s finishing her masonry fundamentals coursework and should be running solo inspections by next spring.
One Standard, Every Job

The rules that govern our work aren’t suggestions. They’re written down, and each of them corresponds to a numbered clause in the Haven Standard. Clause 1 means every customer gets a written price, written scope, and written warranty before anyone starts. Clause 4 means every visit includes a documented photo record, not an optional add-on. And the 365-Day Done Right Promise means exactly what it says: if something isn’t done right, we make it right. That standard has been in place since 2009, across more than 38,000 chimney inspections and cleanings. Every member of the Jersey City team has their name on that standard, and every one of them is accountable to it.
Before
AfterFrequently Asked Questions About Our Jersey City Team
Yes. Every technician who works under the Level Two Chimney Jersey City name is background-checked, uniformed, and carries the required licenses and insurance for chimney work in New Jersey. License information is displayed on every page of our site, and a named tech is assigned to your job before anyone arrives. You’ll get a text when they’re on the way. Call (862) 272-3868 and Deshawn can walk you through exactly who will be at your door and when.
It depends on the job. Marcus or Priya typically handles inspections and cleanings. If the camera finds liner damage or a crown issue, Elena gets involved for the repair or rebuild work. Most visits involve one tech, sometimes two on larger jobs. You’ll know the name of your assigned tech before the appointment, and they’ll arrive in uniform with identification. Call (862) 272-3868 to schedule, and we’ll tell you exactly who’s coming.
Yes, and we encourage it. Repeat visits by the same tech mean better continuity: Marcus remembers what your flue looked like last year, and he’ll know instantly if something changed. When you schedule by phone at (862) 272-3868, just mention which tech you worked with before and Deshawn will do his best to assign them to your job.
